Supervises the operation of University Catering. Supervises, assists, and provides support to all catered events booked through the Scheduling and Catering Office. Position is responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, supervising, evaluating, and discipline of all student managers/supervisors and student employees for University Catering. In addition, provides assistance and support to the Banquet Cooks and Food Service Worker Lead assigned to the Salad/Sandwich production area. Review policies and procedures for catering student employees; develop programs for catering student manager training; and develop/promote the front of house image and marketing. Contribute to a positive, productive, and harmonious work environment. Assist and monitor annual capital and operating budgets. Assist in all operations in the absence of Catering Chef/Manager.

A Bachelor’s degree in hotel and restaurant administration, institutional management, business administration or closely related field and two (2) years of supervisory/management experience which included planning and budgeting. Additional qualifying food service work experience and/or vocational training in quantity food preparation may be substituted, year-for-year, for college education.
Demonstrated strong leadership skills, organizational abilities, and supervisory experience.
Experience developing and maintaining operational policies and procedures.
Experience administering budgets, monitoring expenses, ensuring equipment maintenance and maintaining inventories.
Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Driver’s License.
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 14 days of employment, a Washington State Food Handler’s Permit.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Previous experience supervising multi-unit operations that reflect culinary depth and breadth in concept development, facility development, equipment specification, food and labor cost controls, plating and presentation.
Demonstrated knowledge of full service catering operations with annual sales in excess of $900,000.
Experience with CBORD FSS software.
Previous experience in a university catering environment.
Experience and demonstrated skill with computerized catering program.
Experience and demonstrated skill working with Windows based computer programs.
Qualified applicants for this position will be team players, possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and remain calm under pressure.
Previous experience working in Union environments.
Two (2) years of experience in full service catering management/supervisory position.
